My Dishwasher is Ruining My Dishes!!

Ok, so the dishwasher is over 12 years old, but I am still very disappointed in it!

About eight months ago, I switched from powdered detergent to the Sam's Club version of the Cascade Action Pacs. They seemed to work really well at first. Especially when I felt adventurous and used two pacs-- one in the Main Wash compartment AND one in the Pre Wash compartment. (Believe me, I did research to see if it was ok to use two. I like to "follow the rules." I could not find anything definitive so only did it when I was in a risk-taking mood.)

About three months ago, I switched to the Cascade brand action pacs. Well in the last two months, I have noticed that horrible white film on my dishes, especially the coffee mugs and glasses.

Do you think Sam's Club brand is better than Cascade or is this just a coincidence? Also, at first I was not putting additional rinse aid in, but since this happened I put tons in and maybe that is making it worse?

Does anyone have any suggestions for me? This is really getting on my nerves!

The Flylady Can Help with CHAOS (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome)

Oh how I love The Flylady!  I bought her book, Sink Reflections, eight years ago.  While I was reading her book, it felt like she had written it just for me.  Every word rang true!  All of her simple plans made sense.  I implemented her program and saw instant improvement in my home.   As with most of my plans to better myself, like weight loss (that deserves its own post sometime), I do well for awhile and then I fall off the wagon.  This summer I have her book out again, and am hoping it will help me to establish simple routines that I can stick to, especially once fall gets here and I go back to work. 

One of her tips that I have still used regularly comes from her saying "You can do anything for 15 minutes!"  This means you set a timer for 15 minutes and you tackle a project knowing that you can stop after 15 minutes.  It is amazing what you can get done in just 15 minutes!!  One of my problems is my "all or nothing attitude".  For example, if I can't spend all day cleaning my messy bedroom, then I won't do it at all.   With the 15 minute plan, it helps me to at least get started and I know it won't take all day.   Getting started is another issue I have.  Dang, I have a lot of issues!


About seven years ago, I was able to hear Marla Cilley (The Flylady) speak in Salt Lake City at a conference for women.  She was amazing!  I have a picture of us together from that day.  That was before I had a digital camera, so I don't know where the print is right now (it is lost in my clutter). ;-)  When I run across it, I will post it.

Today, as I was reading my friend's blog, it got me yearning for my old blog. I don't consider myself a blogger, but those are just self-limiting thoughts. Heck, I can be a blogger if I wanna be! So I am back!

I will keep this post short so as not to strain any seldom-used muscles, but I will be back soon.

New Blog Name? Need Advice!

I have had this blog for awhile now although it has been severely neglected recently. Until now, I have mainly focused on highlighting the awesome products and deals in my Avon store.

After attending EVO '10 Conference in June, I have been thinking a lot about my blog. The running theme of the conference was centered around being authentic. Ideas kept popping in my head about what I am good at and what I could write about.

Then it hit me, I can write about how I am domestically challenged, and about how the only domestic thing about me is that I live in a house! I have a sign when you enter my home, that says "Welcome to my LOOSE interpretation of clean." That about says it all.

I am lazy, yet never bored. My days go by fast and I wonder "what in the heck did I do today?" As I said in my header, when I shop, my favorite words to look for are "fully cooked", "dishwasher safe", and "3% Spandex". If there is an easier way to do things, I am all for it.

So I am excited to mix in posts about my real life and how I have learned to do it the easy way (as well as a little Avon mixed in).

Here is where I need advice! Do I change the name of the blog or just leave it as Awesome Avon? If I change the name will people who follow me have to re-follow me?

EVO'10

This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend the Evo'10 conference in beautiful Park City. It is a conference for the evolution of women in social media. As their website says it is for bloggers, businesses, and social media junkies of all levels. I am a social media junkie so I was in heaven!! I was asked by Jyl from Momitforward to attend as a volunteer. What an amazing opportunity for me. I learned so much and made some great new friends! I have neglected my blog for awhile now and am not really a 'blogger' per se, but maybe I will be now!

I also got to hug some cute young men from a band called One Eskimo and some handsome cowboys at the Bush's Beans closing party. Doesn't get much better than that!

Everything you wanted to know about becoming an Avon Rep but were afraid to ask!

Short Company Description: Avon was founded in 1886!

Avon Products is the world's largest direct seller of cosmetics and beauty-related items, Its products include cosmetics, fragrances, toiletries, jewelry, apparel, home furnishings, and more. Although the company has always been more directed toward female customers, Avon's line of male products continues to expand. Its children's products (such as shampoos and toys) have also proved successful. Another brand diversification, "mark." (targeted to younger women) is also doing well.

In 2007, Reese Witherspoon signed a multi-year agreement to serve as Avon's global ambassador. The actress will be involved in product development, appear in advertisements, and will serve as the honorary chairman of the Avon Foundation.

What are the sales quotas? There are no quotas. You are just expected to submit an order every two weeks. A new brochure (campaign) goes in every two weeks.

How do I start with this company? You can visit my website at

What are the shipping times? Fast! :-) When you place your regular campaign order online, you will receive it within about 3 days! When customers order from your website and have it sent directly to their home, they will receive it within a week.

Does the company dropship? Yes. When a customer places an order through your personal website, Avon ships the order directly to them.

What is the commission structure? For your first four campaigns (each campaign runs two weeks), when you submit an order online and on time for $50 or more and pay for it on time, you will earn 50% commission. So for your first campaign, if you have $100 in orders and follow the guidelines just mentioned, you will earn $50. *

After your first four campaigns, you will earn 20-50% commission depending on your order size.

*this is the most current info I have. If you decide to sign up, you can verify this with your district manager.

How am I paid? You place an order every two weeks. Once your order is received, you have about a week and a half to deliver the orders and collect the money from your customers. You will earn 20-50% commission depending on your order size. After you collect the money from your customers, you send Avon a payment. For example, if you earned a 30% commission, you would keep the 30% from your customers order and send Avon the 70% back.

When customers place an order from your online store, Avon credits the amount of your commission to your account and takes it directly off the balance you owe them.

Are company websites available? Yes! Avon provides the website for you. It is a very professional and easy-to-navigate website. Avon automatically updates your website every two weeks when a new campaign is available. There is a minimal charge to have your website, but Avon has an incentive program where you can get this fee waived if you serve at least one customer per campaign through your website. They have been running this incentive for a year, and it looks like it will continue for awhile.

Can I design my own website? Although you do not design your own Avon website, you are able to personalize it with your own welcome message and personal information. You can also choose from several different color schemes and layouts.

Where can I sell? You can sell anywhere! You can sell locally to friends, family, neighbors, local businesses, etc. From your website, you can sell to anyone in the United States! When someone orders on your website, they can choose 'direct delivery' and Avon will dropship the order to them. They can choose 'representative delivery' and have you deliver it to them. When they choose this option, their items will come in with your next regular order.

Does this company offer fundraisers? Yes, their fundraising opportunities are very well-organized and successful!

Are training tools available? Yes, there are many online webinars and courses you can take.

Am I required to hold home parties? No. Some representatives will choose to do open-houses, but home parties are not part of Avon's plan.
